Advisor: Dwi Rahmawati and Rahmat Ali Syaban Sweet Corn (Zea mays var. Saccharata Sturt.) is one of popular horticulture commodity in Indonesia. Inbreeding Depression is phenomenon of vigor reduction and plants productivity that is caused of deep intersecting activity. Inbreeding Depression is often observed in corn plants that has responsive characteristic. The aims of the research are: 1) to know the differences of fenotip characteristicin sweet corn plant (Zea mays var. saccharata Sturt.)by using selfing result and open pollinated result. 2) to know the result of vigor reduction in sweet corn plant (Zea mays var. saccharata Sturt.) by using selfing result and open pollinated result. Inbreeding Depression research did on August-November 2013 in CV. Jogja Horti Lestari Sleman Yogyakarta. This research was used T-test two sample assuming equals by using 2 treatments, the first treatment used open pollinated (P1) and the second treatment used selfing (P2). The result of the research referred that open pollinated treatment (P1) have real difference with selfing treatment (P2) toward all plant activities except the quantity of row seed per stem of an ear of corn. Large scale of vigor reduction on selfing treatment (P2) was bigger than open pollinated treatment (P1) in all plant characteristics observed. Vigor reduction is signed with large scale result and Inbreeding Depression precentage. Key words : Inbreeding Depression, Open Pollinated, Selfing, Sweet Corn
