ABSTRACT
Coffee is an important commodity for the economy of Indonesia. But there is a problem in providing the supplies of coffee seedlings. The problems is the nursery process relatively needs a long time due the dormancy of the coffee seeds. Because of the dormancy period, the coffee seeds start to grow approximately by 3 to 4 weeks after the seeds are sowed. One of the ways to solve this problem is by soaking the seeds with natural plant growth regulators (coconut water, bio urine, a garlic extract).. The natural plant growth regulators contains cytokinin and gibberellic acid (GA). The research was conducted in the farm field of State Polytechnic of Jember on June to November 2012. The usage of Bio urine showed some significant effects on the observation parameter, that was growth simultaneity and plant height at the soldier phase. While the usage of coconut water showed some significant effects on the rate of becoming kepelan. The period of 90 minutes soaking time (P1) affects significantly at 3 months seedlings, while there is no significant effect on the other parameters. The interaction of natural plant growth regulators and soaking time give a significant effect on the growth rate and 2 months seedlings height, with Z2P2 (Bio urine plant regulator and 120 minutes soaking time) as the best treatment. Z1P2 treatment (coconut water and 120 minutes soaking time) significantly affects growth simultaneity, while Z1P1 (coconut water and 90 minutes soaking time) affects the growth of 3 months seedlings significantly.
