Abstract

This study examined the performance of wood-fired furnace with a wide variation of inlet air door 20 x 18 cm, 20 x 12 cm, and 20 x 6 cm. The furnace is designed to produce better combustion by separating the combustion chamber and the air inlet so that the combustion chamber in a closed condition, it also has a chimney with a diameter of 60 mm. Testing of the furnace with air intake door 20 x 18 cm showed the best performance based on its efficiency of the system and efficiency of the furnace is 18.87% and 22.45%. The fuel used is 0.403 kg and the time to boil water is 14 minutes. It has a better performance than the furnace used by the household in general, so it is worthy as a reference to create a furnace with a higher efficiency. Furnace used by households has efficiency of system and the efficiency of the furnace by 8.67% and 13.42% with a fuel consumption of 0.7 kg and cooking time for 19 minutes.
