ABSTRACT

Elderly naturally experience physiological and psychological changes as get older. These changes decrease body function so that it affects the intake and nutritional status of the elderly. Nutritional status and intake of elderly people who live in social care institutions are managed by the system in the institution. The employees of the institution have responsibility for giving optimal needs to support the nutrition. This study aims to determine the effect of elderly diet counseling on knowledge of employees at UPT Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha Jember. This study uses pre-experimental design with one group pre-posttest. This research used total sampling technique with inclusion criteria. This research was conducted on August 2018 in the hall of the UPT Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha Jember. Data of employee’s knowledge were collected trough questionnaire. Based on bivariate analysis using Wilcoxon statistics, the significance results is ρ = 0.035. So it can be concluded that there is effect of elderly diet counseling on knowledge of employees at the UPT Pelayanan Sosial Tresna Werdha Jember.
