Internship program is formal program in PoliteknikNegeriJember that provided practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession. The purpose of this academic program is to create more professional graduates. It is implemented in the sixth semester in 384 hours for diploma three (D3) and 512 hours in the eight semesters for diploma four (D4). For English Study Program students, the internship program can be done in some institutions such as hotel, travel agencies, airport, tourism department, companies, and English course.
Among those workplaces that are recommended, the writer chooses an English course. By conducted internship program in English course, it will help the writer to improve her English ability. English course is an appropriate place to maintain the writer’s ability in speaking, listening, and writing skill. There are some English courses in Jember but the writer choose Winda’s English course Jember as a place to conduct internship program. It is because the writer wants to improve her speaking skill and this place is appropriate place since at Winda’s people use English 100%. Also, Winda’s English Course provided different way of teaching English trough easy, fun and simple methods in all ages. Therefore the writer chooseWinda’s English Course as a place of conducting my Internship Program.
Winda’s English Course is an official service business that runs an English Course and has a permit under the National Ministry of Education of East Java Regional Office since 2003. The concept of this course is a Homey English Course that presents the good atmosphere to motivate students to express idea and creativity in language. Winda’s English Course is located at Jl. Sriwijaya XXX/1 Jember (Winda’s English Course 1) while the branch is in Jl. KH. Wahid Hasyim 38 Jember (Winda’s English Course 2).
The writer started Internship program on the 5th of March 2018, it was about 384 hours until 12th of May, 2018. It was about 384 Hours. The writer focused on the activities of teaching the students in Basic one and Basic two levels. Both levels are intensive students and regular students, for afternoon class and evening class. The writer had to apply the different way in teaching them and adjust the student’s ability based on the level. Being a teaching staff at Winda’s gave me chance to do some activities such as handling multilevel class, preparing the students for Winda’s progress test, handling the students for Winda’s fun activities, also preparing the test for Winda’s examination.
Meanwhile, there were also some problems occurred during conducted Internship Program. It happened when the writer faced something new like teaching new students, making exercise for basic two levels, finding an appropriate recorder for listening test of both levels and training the students to speak English in public places. Fortunately, mam Winda as the owner and my supervisor always give me support and advice to be a good teacher. Being a teacher in Winda’s English Course made me learnt something then be able to do the new things. The experience and new knowledge that the writer got during teaching in Winda’s were very important to face the future and get the job in the workplace.
