ABSTRACT
Plantations are one of the mainstay agricultural sub-sectors in Indonesia, one of them is coffee. The main problem in coffee is the length of the germination process that because coffe has a hard skin. In this study, the treatment of the effect of H2SO4 and coconut water was applied to accelerate the growth of initial seeds of Arabica coffee. This research was conducted at the Seed Technology Laboratory and Experimental Garden of Politeknik Negeri Jember. This research used factorial randomized block 2 design and repeated 3 times. Immersion of H2SO4 (P) concentration is Control (P0), H2SO4 Immersion 10% (P1), H2SO4 15% (P2) and H2SO4 20% (P3). The second factor is immersion of coconut water (A) namely Control (A0), coconut water immersion 50% (A1), 75% (A2), and 100% (A3). The data was analyzed by the F test formula (ANOVA) and tested further by DMRT test with a 5% error level. The results showed that there were interactions of the two treatments, namely the germination of the power parameters (96.67%) and the growth rate (7.24%) with the best treatment of P3A3. 20% H2SO4 immersion (P3) had a very significant effect on the simultaneous growth meters (80.00%), the time the seedlings entered into kepelan (30.58%), and the height of 1 month old seedlings (2.30%). The coconut water immersion treatment (A3) had a very significant different effect on the parameters of simultaneous growth (80.83%), the time the seeds entered into the plots (28.76%), the height of 1 month old seedlings (2.31%) and the root length ( 4.78%).
