SUMMARY

Translating a Book Entitled Quality Assurance for Animal Feed Analysis Laboratories Published by Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nation on Page 40 until 58, Ken IqlimaUlyaMachfudzoh, F31151394, 2018, 74 Pages, Language, Communication and Tourism Department, PoliteknikNegeriJember, AdriadiNovawan, S.Pd., M.Ed. (Supervisor).
Nowadays, translation plays a very important role in mostly main sectors of human life.Moreover in this global era where people need information to develop their knowledge and also required them to communicate globally. According to Bassnet and Esperanca (2009) there is a significant growth in the importance of translation as the key mediator of global communication.As mediator, translation has crucial role in transferring the messages of any knowledge that is published in a foreign language.It means translation acts as the bridge that connects people from different countries with different language in transferring information. There are thousands of languages in the world such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, English and etc. But the most common foreign languages that used by people to communicate is English. It became additional language that merged the limits of several countries.English also plays major role in many sector like business, medicine, entertainment and education (Farikah, 2011).
In education field,translation plays an important role to the development of science from several countries over the world. There are a lot of journals, articles and textbook that published in English version. Most of them used as additional references in teaching-learning process. One of the examples is in Animal Husbandry Department of PoliteknikNegeriJember. The lecture of Animal Husbandry use textbook entitled Quality Assurance for Animal Feed Analysis Laboratories in English version as additional source through lecturing.The problem is while the students cannot catch the whole information clearly, so they were failed to understand this book. Due to the fact that the book is not written in our native language it requires a process of translation. Because of this situation, in this final project the writer would like to translate a book entitled Quality Assurance for Animal Feed Analysis Laboratories on page 40 to 58 intoBahasa Indonesia. This book will be translated in group. The group consists of seven persons which each of them will translate fifteen until twenty pages. The writer will adopt process of translation proposed by Nida and Taber. The process in translating the text itself consists of three phases.It begins from analyzing text,transferring the Idea from sources text to the target text and last isrestructuring or rewrites the result of translation.Beside it, the writer also applied translation procedures by Vinay and Dalbernet to translate the smaller unit of the text such as phrases and other grammatical words. They are; borrowing, literal translation, transposition, modulation and adaptation. Applying those procedures hopefully can help the writer in transferring the content of book. In addition, the writer also asked suggestion and evaluation from the supervisor and the lecture of Husbandry Department Mr. SuluhNusantoro. It is to make sure that the information presented in the correct form and can be used properly by the readers.
By conducting these translation activities as final project, the writer could improve her skills in writing, reading especially in translating ability. Further, the writer could enhanced her vocabularies and knowledge related to Animal Husbandry Field. At least, finally the writer concluded that translating textbook has many beneficial impacts for herself as the translator and also the reader as the user. The writer believed that all knowledge that she got from translating this book will be beneficial for the writer’s future.
