Bintoro MP Ayu Linar Puji Lestari Seed Production Technique Study Program Agricultural Production Department ABSTRACT Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a plant of the Cucurbitaceae family originating from North India. One effort to increase cucumber production is by using hybrid seeds. However, hybrid seed production still faces problems such as the distance of partner farmers which causes the delivery of male flowers must be done earlier. So, harvesting male flowers do not comply with the standards. Therefore, that research needs to be carried out with the title The Effect of Male Flower Harvesting Time on Production and Quality of Seeds with Two Varieties of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). This research was conducted in Tempuran, Cakru Village, Kencong District, Jember Regency, and East Java Province. From August to November 2017. This research used RAK (Randomized Block Design) Factorial which consists of 2 factors, which used harvest time of male flowers and varieties. The first factor consists of 4 levels of male flower with harvest time at 07.00 (W0), 11.00 (W1), 13.00 (W2) and 15.00 (W3). The second factor consisted of 2 levels, which used KE019 (V1) and KE022 (V2) varieties so that 8 combinations were obtained and repeated 3 times. The data were tested using the F test (ANOVA) and in the follow-up test with DMRT with an error level of 5%. The results showed the male flower in harvest time treatment had a significant effect on fruit weight parameters. Likewise, the treatment of varieties gave a significant effect on the parameters of fruit weight and the total number of seeds in the treatment of Variety KE 019 (V1). The interaction provides non-significant results for all observed parameters. Keywords: Cucumber, Varieties and Time
