ABSTRACT
Every year cucumber plantation encounter decreasing production. One of the factors is the use of low quality of seeds. To increase the yields and the quality seed of cucumber needs new innovation by the treatment of stem tip pruning and number of fruits per plant. This research conducted to know the effect of stem tip pruning and the number of fruits per plant on yields and quality of cucumber seed. This research was conducted from August to January 2018, Antirogo Village, Sumbersari, Jember regency, and Seed Production Technic Laboratory. This research used a factorial randomized block designed that consisted of 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor was the 10th segment pruning (P1), 15th Segment Pruning (P2) and 20th Segment pruning (P3). The second factor was 2 fruits per plant (B1)and 4 fruits per plant (B2). The result showed that the treatment of fruit per plant give effect to the weight of fruit per plant and weight of seed per fruitwas very significantly, those are 2 fruits per plant (B1) with the weight is 459 gr and the weight of seed per fruit is 3,766gr.
