SUMMARY
Making a Tutorial Video for the Students of Pastry Department at SMKN 3 Jember, Azizah Sri Hindayati, Nim F31150418, 2018, 40 pages., Language, Communication and Tourism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Agus Setia Budi, S.Pd.,M.Pd. (a Supervisor).
Vocational school (SMK) is secondary education which prioritizes the development of students’ ability to undertake certain types of work. One of SMK which can educate students to have the ability and skill so as to meet the need or demands of DU/DI (Dunia Usaha/Dunia Industri) is SMKN 3 Jember. SMKN 3 Jember has so many departments, one of them is Pastry Department. Pastry is the knowledge in processing and serving various types of cakes. Unfortunately, in Pastry theory class only use the book and power point as learning media. So, the writer decided to make a tutorial video as learning media. It can help the students of Pastry Department easier to understand the learning material.
In this final project the writer made a tutorial video how to make the continental cake as learning media. Tutorial video is a video that contains information about step or procedure to making or using something. Furthermore, learning media is media used in learning. The contents of the video are showing the procedures of making butter, chiffon and foam type cake in english version. The project is also supported with Bahasa Indonesia subtitle.
The title of the product is “How to Make Three Basic Types of Continental Cake”. The first part of the tutorial video is opening. Firstly, it will show the title. The second part of the tutorial video is content. It will show the ingredients, how to process and then how to garnish the cake. The last part of the video is closing. Before the writer start to make the tutorial video, the writer needs supporting data to complete the final project. The supporting data are interview, observation and documentation related about Pastry Department and the writer’s product. Then, the

procedures of making the tutorial video, the writer adopt three steps from Littlefield, et al (2015). The steps are pre-production, production and post-production.
After the supporting data and planning the process the product is complete, the writer are starting make the product based on the method. The result of collecting data is doing into process making the product. So firstly the step in making the product is writing the script based on from the collecting data. Then, creating the storyboard for guiding the cameramen. Next, the writer prepared the shooting equipments and place. After everything was ready, the writer started to shoot the video. The next step is editing. The writer did manipulate and arrange the video shots, include add a backsound and background. Then, after going through several revisions from teacher of Pastry Department and supervisor, then the writer burned the video from the laptop to the VCD. The last, the writer gave the VCD to the Pastry Department at SMKN 3 Jember.
During the process of making the tutorial video, the writer can apply the skills of speaking, writing and translation. The writer also got difficulities in making the product when taking and editing the video. However, the writer makes them as new the experience and knowledge. Finally the writer could finish this project. The writer hope could help the students of Pastry Department at SMKN 3 Jember to get more information about how to make the three basic types of continental cake. This final project also can be as reference the student of English Study Program who have similar project.
