Relationship with the level of energy, protein and nutritional intake in the elderly at UPT Tresna Werdha Jember

ABSTRACT

Background: Fulfillment of nutrition in old age is very important. In old age shows that energy intake in old age greatly affects the nutritional status of the elderly. If someone is successful in reaching old age, then one of the main efforts is to maintain or bring the nutritional status in the optimum condition so that the quality of life in the elderly is better. Changes in nutritional status in the elderly are caused by poor food intake in the elderly. One factor that can affect nutritional status in the elderly is the quality of food. Objective: To determine the relationship of food quality include the appearance and taste of food with the intake of energy, protein and nutritional status in the elderly. Method: This research method is quantitative with cross sectional research design, the dependent and independent variables studied are measured simultaneously. This research is analytical because it will know the relationship of quality with energy and protein intake and nutritional status in the elderly. Resultsp: as many as 72% of elderly with less energy intake, 74% of elderly with less protein intake, and 84% of elderly with less nutritional status at UPT Tresna Werdha Jember Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between food quality and energy intake. There is no significant relationship between food quality and nutritional status. There is a significant relationship between protein intake and food quality. Suggestion: Need to increase the process of organizing food at UPT Tresna Werdha Jember.
