ABSTRACT
Plant breeding activities aim to obtain new superior varieties by selecting the segregated population with the pedigree selection method. This research has a purpose to know the selection response of short age character and high yield potential has high genetic progress on F7 generation plant by pedigree selection method. The research was conducted in experimental field of State Polytechnic of Jember was started in June - September 2017. The research used was that non factorial of Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 14 genotypes treatment which included four parentals Rajabasa, Dering, Polije-2, Polije-3, seven genotypes result selection such as RD, P2R, P2D, P3R, P3D, P2P3 and P3P2, and three comparison varieties Wilis, Malabar, and Ringgit in which for each was 3 repetition with 42 samples for each experiment. The research of result showed that the treatment of 14 genotypes of soybean plants had a very significant effect on the parameters of flowering age, harvest age, high plant, branch productive of plant, weight of 100 seeds. The genetic progression value of flowering age character was low category 6,605%. While for the harvest age character 10,778%, high plant 41,697%, branch productive of plant 22,129%, weight of 100 seeds 17,388%, yield each plant 14,937%, yield each plot 14,024%, and yield potential per hectare 14.121% included high category.
