ABSTRACT
Melon is a horticultural crop that is widely known by the community as a fruit-producing plant. Melon production in 2010 - 2014 has fluctuated. Increased melon production can be done in several ways, including the use of high quality seeds. Research on the "Effectivity of Fertilizer Package and Shoot Pruning on Production and Seed Quality of Hybrid Melon (Cucumis melo L.)" was carried out in August to December 2016 at Suco Village, Mumbulsari District, Jember and PT Benih Citra Asia, Jl. Akmaludin 26, Ajung District, Jember District PO. BOX 26. This study used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in factorial with two treatment factors. The first factor is application of fertilizer package with two levels that consist of: first fertilizer package (S1) and second fertilizer package (S2). The second factor is shoot pruning or toping which consists of two levels: without shoot pruning shoot and with shoot pruning, then obtained 4 treatment combinations and 6 replication. The observation data were analyzed by F test (ANOVA) formula, followed by a Least Significant Difference (LSD) 5% test. The result showed that the fertilizer package treatment only gave significant effect (*) to the seed growth rate parameter. While the shoot pruning treatment has no significant effect (ns) on all parameters. For treatment interaction between fertilizer package and shoot pruning has no significant effect (ns) on all parameters.
