THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DERRIS ELLIPTICA BENT ROTENONE COMPOUND ON THE SPODOPTERA LITURA LEAFWORM MOTH OF SOYBEAN PLANT

ABSTRACT
Soybean is one of the main commodities besides rice and corn. The demand of soybean keeps increasing. However, the consumption of the sybean reaches 2.8 tons per year. This means that the demand of the soybean is not fulfilled adequately as yet. The leafworm moth (Spodopteralitura) is the main pest to cause the harvesting failure to the soybean plant. One of the ways available to control the leafworm id through the use of plant-based pesticide. One of the available options is derris elliptica denth which contain rotenone compound that has toxic nature. The first research is conducted in November 2017 at the Plant Conservation Laboratory of State Polytechnic of Jember with the intention of finding out the LC 50 and LC 99 testings to the leafworm moth. The data testing is performed using Analisprobit and software SPSS 15.0. Meanwhile, the second research is conducted in August 2017 up to March 2018 at Jl. Parangtritis Antirogo Village Sumbersari Sub-District Jember Regency at the height of 87 m above the sea level at the coordinat points of 809’7.182” South Latitude dan 133044’8488 East Longitude. This research employs non-factorial Randomized Block Design intended to find out the population of the leafworm moth population, the intensity of the leafworm moth attack, and the dried harvesting yield (grain) based on several concentration treatments of T1, T2, T3, T4 with repetitive method used for determining ANOVA and the advanced testing of BNT 5% is done by using SPSS software 15.0. The result of this research reveals that the treatment T1 (the concentration of the derris elliptica denth 25%), the treatment T2 (the concentration of the derris elliptica denth 50%), the treatment T3 (the concentration of the derris elliptica denth 75%), and T4 (insecticide with the active content of chlorpyrifos 200 gr/l) , shows an unreal effect on the population of the leafworm moth except on 5MST, which shows the real margin. The intensity of the leafworm moth attack is stated as an unreal effect, while on the dried harvesting yield (grain), it shows an unreal margin, respectively.
