Santika Premiere Gubeng Hotel Surabaya has some divisions; those areSales Marketing, Front Office Department, House Keeping Department, Enginering Department, Food and Beverage Service, Food and Beverage Product, Human Resources Department and Accounting Department. I did my internship program in one of that divisions. It was Front Office Department as a Guest Relation Officer. The activity of my internship program was started on the 28th of March, 2017 up to the 28th of May, 2017. It was about 512 hours. I started to conduct my internship program at 10.00 a.m until 06.00 p.m from Monday until Saturday. The activities that I did in this division were welcoming the guest, welcome drink, handling check-in, and handling check-out.
In guest relation officer division,I got many experiences during my Internship activities such as improving my speaking skills when I handled the guest. I knew how to respon the guest question and how to solve their problem during they stayed in the hotel. Moreover, I also faced a problem in handling the complained when they stayed in hotel.
The objectives of my internship program are to apply skills and knowledge that have been learned especially related to English for Hotel and Restaurant and Public Speaking,to get new skills and knowledge that I did not get from the college, to get the experience in the real work place especially working at hotel.
Based on the explanation above, I concluded that Santika Premiere Gubeng Hotel Surabaya is a recommended place for English Study Program students of Politeknik Negeri Jember to conduct an Intership program because at that place they can apply their english skills and knowledge especially in English Spesific Puposes like English for Hotel and Restaurant.
