Subtitling The Video of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) for Food Industrial Technology Study Program, Devi Intan Permatasari, NIM F31141778, 2017, 51 pages, Language, Communication and Touurism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Enik Rukiati, S.Pd, M.Pd (First Supervisor), Adriadi Novawan, S.Pd, M.Ed (Second Supervisor).

Subtitling a Video of Hazard Analyis Critical Control Point (HACCP) For Food Industrial Technology Study program is a product of final project which is based on the need in the teaching and learning process in HACCP subject. The lecturer does not used video as a teaching media, especially English video as a supporting medium in teaching. This condition should be changed since the vision of Politeknik Negeri Jember is “Being the most popular vocational education in Asia in 2025”. Therefore, all the teaching-learning process and the educational atmosphere in Politeknik Negeri Jember should represent the achievement of the vision. The vision requires the students to have English competence in order to compete with another college in Asia. This project focused on making an Indonesian subtitle of an English video with a title Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) by adapting some translation procedures from Newmark in Akhmad et al (2010), they are Word-forword translation, Literal Translation, Communicative Translation and also the translation theories from Suryawinata and Hariyanto in Budianto and Fardhani (2010), they are Addition, Borrowing and Substraction. The writer used those procedures because they were easy and simple to be applied in translating the transcript of the video. The video contains of HACCP system, potential problems and also seven principles in HACCP system. The writer got several problems in finishing the product of this final project, such as in catching what the speaker said at that time. The writer could not write down the original script easily because there were a lot of unfamiliar vocabularies related to HACCP itself that it was not the writer’s major. Due to that problem, the writer had to replay the vidoe for more that 3 times in order to catch the whole

content of the video. The writer also found difficulties in translating the source language of the video to the target language. The writer had to pay more attention in translating it to the target languge so that the translation result would be acceptable and comprehensible without changing the content of the video. During the process of finishing this final project, the writer was able to apply the language skills, especially in listening and writing skills. The writer was able to improve the listening skill in listening to what the speaker said before writing it down and translating it to Bahasa Indonesia. By making an Indonesian subtitle of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) video, it gave advantages for the lecturer of Food Industrial Technology Study Program who used this product as a supporting medium in teaching – learning activity
