Politeknik Negeri Jember is a college which more apply practice rather than theory in learning that make students have skill. All of departments at Politeknik Negeri Jember apply the system, one of them is English study program. In English study program will be conduct 6 semesters (3 years). Internship program is activity from college which require the students to direct apply at workplace. In English study program it will conduct for 3 months, from March until June.
Purnama Hotel Batu is one of the famous hotels, especially in Batu city. However, this hotel is not then directly into a hotel that is immediately known as it is today but through a struggle to become one of the competing hotels especially in Batu Town. Hotel Purnama Batu continued to grow until at the end of 1984 the hotel facilities began to increase, ranging from the number of rooms increased to 96 rooms, 2 meeting rooms (hall), 1 restaurant, swimming pool, play Ground, tennis court, billiard and mini zoo.
The internship program has been conducted for three months in Purnama Hotel Batu. Started from 15st March 2017 up to 15th June 2017. During three months, I got a chance to learn many things in the Front Office Department as a Reception Section, Telephone Operatore, Information Section.
I did 2 activities in one division. The division was front office division. In this division, I handled check in, gave information about Purnama Hotel to the guest. Check in was a process which was the guest confirming and announcing the arrival at hotel. Check in was normally required in order to obtain a room key and an information about amount of money that should be provided to cover potential costs such as room service for the duration of the stay.
