ABSTRACT
One of the way to improve the productivity and the quality of soybean seed
(Glycine Max (L.) Merril) is through land cultivation improvement – by applying
land cultivation and by adding organic mulch. The research is to identify the
impact of applying land cultivation and that of adding organic mulch. In addition,
the research is to identify the best treatment to improve increase the productivity.
The research was conducted on July to October 2017 on the Experimental Field
at Gg Kepodang, Kreongan Village, Patrang Sub-District, Jember regency. The
research employed the Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) Factorial
with 9 (nine) different treatments which were T0M0 : implementing no land
cultivation and adding no organic mulch, T0M1 : implementing no land cultivation
and adding organic mulch (rice straw mulch), T0M2 : implementing no land
cultivation and adding organic mulch (rice husk mulch), T1M0 : implementing
land cultivation sufficiently and adding no organic mulch, T1M1 : implementing
land cultivation sufficiently and adding organic mulch (rice straw mulch), T1M2 :
implementing land cultivation sufficiently and adding organic mulch (rice husk
mulch), T2M0 : implementing land cultivation well and adding no organic mulch,
T2M1 : implementing land cultivation well and adding organic mulch (rice straw
mulch), T2M2 : implementing land cultivation well and adding organic mulch (rice
husk mulch) and 3 repetition. The result shows that implementing land cultivation
sufficiently and adding rice straw mulch significantly improve the height, leave,
the number of pod, weight of 100 seeds, the result on each plot and each Ha. The
treatment which implemented land cultivation method sufficiently and added
organic mulch (rice straw mulch) leaded to produce 4.24 ton/Ha of soy bean seed.
It is better than that of no land cultivation method and no organic mulch which
produced only 2.74 ton/Ha of soy bean seed.
