ABSTRACT
This research had a purpose to know the result of plant growth medium
compotition use and urea fertilizer application to red ginger ( Zingiber officinale
var. rubrum rhizoma) seedling growth. This research was held for 3 months from
July 2016 until September 2016. All activities was held at land research and Seed
Technology Laboratory, State Polytechnic of Jember. This research was
conducted by factorial Randomized Complete Block Design that was consisted of
2 factors, there were consisted of 3 levels. There were without plant growth
medium increase (M0), the increase of muck and husk charcoal with 1:1:1
comparison (M1), the increase of muck and husk charcoal with 2:1:1 comparison
(M2) and the increase of muck and husk charcoal with 3:1:1 comparison (M3).
Then the second factor were the increase of Urea fertilizer about 3 gr/polybag
(N1), the increase of Urea fertlizer about 6 gr/polybag (N2) and the increase of
Urea fertilizer about 9 gr/polybag (N3). The results of this study were analyzed by
ANOVA and will be continued by using DMRT 5% levels. The research result
showed that the use of plant growth medium gave very significant effect to plant
height, trunk diameter, the total of tillers, rhizome wet weight and gave significant
effect to rhizome dry weight. Urea fertilizer application at this research dis not
give significant effect to all parameters.
