Internship program is a program that held by Politeknik Negeri Jember to measure the capability of the students while they faced the real work, such as company training. I chose Kusuma Agrowisata for doing the internship program. Kusuma Agrowisata is a place that related with agrotourism sector in Batu city.
Kusuma Agowista was established by an agriculture engineer who started build Kusuma Agrowisata on 1989 and he is the owner of Kusuma Agrowisata itself. Kusuma Agrowisata has two lobbies, there are apple and strawberry lobby. In apple lobby, the guest can visit the apple, guava and orange plantations.
In this Internship Program, I was placed as a guide in Agrotourism division. Guiding Subdivision is a division that has responsibilities to accompany, bring to the destination, provide and explain the information related to the tourism object to the tourists who are on a tour at Kusuma Agrowisata Batu.
At Kusuma Agowisata there are some the main activities of to be a guide. The visitors is not only an individual, but also a group of visitors. In guiding the visitor in individual and group are different.
Finally, I finished my Internship program for about 512 hours. Being a guide really trained me to have a good skill especially in speaking and listening. I trained myself speaking directly with international tourist. I got a lot of knowledge and great experiences in public speaking. By having such working experiences, I believed that I would be able to work as professional guide.
