Receiving The Guest At Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker Ledokombo, Latifatifatul Muawwanah, F31140559, 2017. Language, Communication and Tourism Department, Politeknik Negeri Jember, Adriadi Novawan S. Pd, M. Pd (Supervisor).
Politeknik Negeri Jember is a college which is provides the vocational education and encourages the students to have knowledge and skill. There are 19 study programs at Politeknik Negeri Jember. Besides, Politeknik Negeri Jember prioritizes the students to do practice rather than theory. Then, the students are trained to have a good skill that can be used in the work place after graduate from Politeknik Negeri Jember. Therefore, Politeknik Negeri Jemberprovidesan Internship Program that should be done by the students as one of the rules before graduate from Politeknik Negeri Jember.
Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker is a community which was established on December 10, 2009 that located at Bungur Street, Number 73 Ledokombo, Jember. It was built to introduce culture and help children who left by their parents who work as the migrant laborers. Tanoker has some of traditional games such as egrang, percussion, gobak sodor, kasti, bentengan and polo lumpur that can enjoy by the tourist who come there. Beside, Tanoker also has the annual event that called festival egrang and monthly event that called Pasar Lumpur. This event usually followed by people around Ledokombo village and other village.
I decide to choose Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker as the place of my Internship Program. I choose this place because I could apply my English skill especially in speaking and guiding. Then, I can learn how to communicate with society in real work place and how to be the real professional worker. There were fourdivision at Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker, those are Secretariat Division, Finance Division, Pengembangan Masyarakat Division and Pengembangan Usaha Division. Pengembangan Masyarakat Division is divided into two sub divisions. Those are, Sub Division of Children Assistance Team and Sub Division of Organizing and Advocacy Team. Meanwhile, Pengembangan Usaha Division is divided into two sub divisions. Such as, Sub Division of Tourism Village Team or Event Organizer and Sub Division of Tanocraft Team.
During my internship program at Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker , I was placed in Event Organizer division. There were many kind of activities that has been done such as Accompanying children in learning process, Making company profile video of Tanoker, Preparing invitation card for events, Being a committee in international workshop and Receiving the guest from national tourists. I focus on handle receiving the guest. Then, the activities that I did in receiving the guest was preparing the events, welcoming the guest, accompanying the guest, servicing the guest and evaluating the activities.
Meanwhile, I got some problem during this internship program. It happened when the first time I should handle receiving the guest, like preparing the event, communicated with new people and communicate with children there, and what should I prepare in welcoming guest. But the staff of Tanoker taught me and slowly I could handle it.
Based on the explanation above, I conclude that Kampung Wisata Belajar Tanoker is an appropriate place to conduct the internship program. It was because I get a lot of new experiences, knowledge and learn how to make a good communication with other people.
